IELTS Academic assesses the level of English language with regard to the possibility of studying and obtaining an education in an English-speaking educational institution. The IELTS test lasts 2 hours 45 minutes and consists of 4 parts:
Candidates receive Band for each part of the exam according to a nine-point scale (1-9). The Overall Band for the entire exam is the arithmetic mean of all Bands. The following rounding rules apply when evaluating: 0.25 is rounded to 0.5, and 0.75 is rounded to a whole number (7.25=7.5; 6.75=7).
The Listening and Reading Modules contain 40 tasks each. Each correctly completed task gives one point. The maximum number of points for one Module is 40. The Band on a nine-point scale is calculated based on the total number of points. The Speaking and Writing Modules are evaluated immediately on a nine-point scale.
